Polat's Duna Pearl Project in Budapest Receives Gold LEED Certification

With over 65 years of experience in the real estate and energy sectors, Polat, one of the leading players in Turkey and globally, has been awarded the Gold LEED certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) for its Duna Pearl project in Budapest.

Duna Pearl, Polat Holding's first international project, and also known as the 'Pearl of the Danube,' was unveiled to residents in recent months. The project received recognition with the Gold certification in the LEED Energy Certification System, which is one of the most respected international industry standards, presented by the USGBC.

The LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, based in the United States, is the most widely used green building rating system globally, rewarding the energy solutions, modernity, and construction quality of large building complexes.

Speaking about the Gold LEED Certification awarded to Duna Pearl, Kaan Yücel, Executive Board Member in charge of Real Estate at Polat Holding, stated:

"The Gold LEED Certification demonstrates that projects meet the most current requirements as a building complex within the framework of LEED criteria, designed and operated to secure a healthy environment and support energy efficiency. In this context, our Duna Pearl project was deemed worthy of this certification by incorporating various cooling and heating solutions, including a state-of-the-art heat pump system that produces hot water from air temperature, and using at least 20% renewable energy in compliance with European Union building regulations. Additionally, the project adds value to the sustainability of the region. During the construction of Duna Pearl, we renewed the surrounding roads, repaired sidewalks, created new park areas, and established green spaces for neighborhood residents and visitors. Therefore, our receipt of this certification is not only due to architectural and mechanical solutions but also the significant role we played in enhancing the greenery of the neighborhood and contributing to the quality of life in the surrounding area."

Duna Pearl, Polat's first project in Budapest, joins the esteemed projects of sustainable and innovative buildings with the LEED Certification, which is globally recognized. The U.S. Green Building Council's list, which supports increasing the quality of life environmentally and socially, includes over 105,000 LEED-certified buildings in approximately 190 countries worldwide.
